Modern basketball rookies only compare when brand, set, parallel name, numbering, and autograph flags match. Local shops that buy basketball well will refuse vague 'same player, same year' comps and pull the checklist line before quoting. Team and player collectors also need different case depth.
How collectors price this locally
Decision rules for shopping at a local card shop — not live quotes. Confirm recent sold comps before you buy or sell.
- Numbered parallels need the exact print run and parallel name. Base rookies are a different market.
- Autograph and memorabilia flags must match. Sticker autos and on-card autos are not interchangeable comps.
- Brand and set matter as much as the player. Prizm, Mosaic, National Treasures, and others are separate lanes.
- Raw versus graded basketball comps stay separate. A gem-mint ask is not a raw offer.
- Ask what the shop actually turns for basketball. Football-heavy stores can be honest and still underbid hoops cardboard.
- Break chatter is not a sold comp. Prefer recent cleared sales with the same checklist line.
