Card grading

What should a grading drop-off receipt include?

A receipt should identify every card, service, fee, insurance term, condition note, and custody responsibility.

A grading drop-off receipt should make custody clear. It should list the shop name, date, customer name, each card submitted, card identifiers, declared value, chosen grading company, service level, quantity, total fees paid or owed, and the expected handling process. For valuable cards, ask for condition notes or photos at intake. Find possible services through the grading-shop directory, but judge the desk by its paperwork as much as by its display case.

The receipt should also explain shipping, insurance, status updates, responsibility for loss or damage, return pickup, and what happens if the grading company requests an upcharge or rejects authentication. Vague “we have your cards” documentation is not enough for a serious submission. The card show drop-off grading guide is useful even for store drop-offs because the custody questions are similar. Keep your copy until every card is back and matched against the original list. Ask how the shop labels grouped customer orders so your cards are not confused with another submission.
